Let’s Play Terraria | I built an OVERPOWERED mob farm in Terraria! (Episode 22)

Let’s Play Terraria – Today, we create our first Terraria farm, an underground mob farm, essentially a large box with lava in the middle! However, we make it the PERFECT size for crazy mob spawns!

This works for Terraria 1.4.4 on PC/Steam. Unfortunately I can’t say for sure if the above seed will work on console/handheld versions. Please don’t spoil anything that’s in this world in the comments!

  1. Just watched a short teaching how to make a mob farm, thought phyton should make it. After watching short, i immediately refresh and this video pop up

  2. Hey python put lava all across the bottom build a bridge in the middle and safety box under it then make lave pit fall trap in the middle then can easy get the drops 😎 and the mobs will spawn on da Bridge

  3. Hey Python, a good idea would be to actually make a Lava Pyramid at your top Platform with a line of spawning blocks on either side stretching to the edges of your box, and wire a Dirt Trap for each side on a second timer. The enemies would walk up the Pyramid, fall into the middle and die to Lava, including bats, and then the Dart Traps would be a way to keep enemy spawn aggro on you, as well as function as a Mimic farm as well, as the Dart would trigger any dormant mimics that spawn! But keep in mind not to do this in your Crimson/Corruption/Hallow boxes, as those Mimics can fly through blocks and kill you underneath the Pyramid!

  4. sorry pal, conveyor belts do absolutely nothing to enemies
they only move you, npc's and items
GOOD NEWS! you got spared from spending too much money for nothing

  5. Hey Python, your mob farm is good but there's a better way of doing it and you'll just need to change this one a little bit.
    1. Find the middle height again.
    2. Place blocks of the biome you want the mobs to be of all the way
    3. In the middle make a little "volcano". A triangle on one side, another on the other and a gap in the middle filled with a thin layer of lava. Wide enough so that mobs won't jump around and deep enough that they can't get out after falling in
    4. Below the volcano shape you can make a box for you to stay on, it can be as big as you want as long as it's filled with background walls.
    5. Optionally you can make a fishing pond inside the box, aquatic mobs won't spawn because you'll be near by all the time
    6. IMPORTANT: place lava on the bottom of the farm so mobs won't spawn bellow the middle platform.
Tip: You can place a sentry inside the mini volcano to hit the mobs so you get money

  6. Python you won't need to make any in other farms you can make artificial biomes that work. A fellow terraria youtuber by the name of WaffleTime made an amazing farm that will have all the information you and anyone else needs

  7. I'm delighted to see you finally attempt to make mob farm arenas!
If anything useful, you can try to add gemstone walls for a little extra light source and also a few dart traps at the bottom to trigger mobs that keep standing still 🙂

  8. You just need 1 box, since you have none-biome blocks, you can just block swap to add crimson/hallow/ice blocks, so you can spawn different types of enemies and change it anytime you want in just one box (the enemies of any biome ONLY spawn in natural blocks from that biome).

Also add lava at the bottom and top of the box so enemies can ONLY spawn by your left and right; also use the Shadow Candle so the Skeleton Merchant doesn't decrease NPC spawns. I suggest Khaios' video on AFK Farms, he explained everything really well.

  9. Hey Python,
1- u can use special walls for specific mobs. For example if u want spiders, use infested spider walls if u dont want to build another farm for dungeon u can use cursed brick walls to.

2- I love fishing in Terraria like u. (Yes, by sitting on the toilet) In hardmode, fishing in the early stages can be a bit of a torture as the enemies become harder. So, before switching to hardmode, you can make safer places for fishing spots or create your own fishing areas. I'm sure it will give you peace of mind while fishing.

    3- Hoik Hellavator!

  10. If you make a box of enough corruptable blocks under your platform you can change the biome you want to farm with the dust or eventually clentaminator. Since you correctly used uncorruptable boarder it will not spread outside the box. Also you want the enemies to spawn on your platform not below you so you want to rebuild that across your screen. Torches should not effect your spawn rates so light it up

Once you can get jungle temple blocks or just blocks from a biome that increases spawn rates go for that.

Btw im totally buying the PlanterA shirt from the shop and I will gladly use your code my friendo

  11. Cool to see you getting into mob farming! It can be very rewarding. A couple tips.

    1. Torches do absolutely nothing to spawn rates, except for the correct biome torches for the current biome, which will increase rare spawns (and rare drops). Use bone torches or gem torches for general lighting (they are biome-neutral) then a single biome torch that you can swap when you change the biome. Throw down a gnome statue for even more luck!

    2. Rather than try to describe the classic volcano farm, I highly recommend checking out these classic farm videos: Happy Days – step by step afk farm, and Khaios: – ultimate rod of discord farm. Even though Khaios has advanced stuff for afk hardmode farming, he covers the basic principles for farms incredibly well.

  12. Hey python another cool building idea could be a teleporter hub that could actually tp you to all your different fishing locations ie. The jungle desert curroption/crimson ect.

  13. Hey Python! You can actually make a hallowed biome pre hard mode by throwing sand torches into the shimmer to get hallowed torches which can be shimmered into hallowed hardened sandstone which you can convert to normal hallowed sand, it would be awesome to put it into your farm or make a pylon base early as a start so it won’t get so hard later

  14. Love you bro but you are indeed a super noob at farm making 😝

Line the bottom with lava and let mobs spawn on platforms to your sides while hiding in a little lava pyramid type thing!

  15. Last vanilla series you reached hardmode at episode 19, now you are still in pre-hardmode in episode 22! I just love seeing you take your time on this world and not rush everything like the class playthroughs! Also will you do a world tour at episode 25 like you did in the last series? It would be pretty nice!

  16. I have never thought of doing purpose made farms…. damn it. Or all the fishing…. double damn it!!! All that grinding I would do…. I am so stupid.
Great video as always. Honestly, with you and Chippy I am definitely getting better at the game an I love the odd squeak of a bat getting wrecked, never fails to make me laugh.

  17. Hey python just a tip for the farm, to deal with the flying enemies you should build a lava pyramid above you. Happy days has a great video tutorial! Also jungle grass will increase spawn rates!

  18. Hi python add a lava pit like a 12 wide by 10 high slopes plus at the far corners add dart traps to activate nymphs and mimics, also I found that a platform set at 35 blocks high is also a good height
