BIGGEST WOLF NEWS EVER! | MINECRAFT MONTHLY

Welcome to Minecraft Monthly. I’m your incredibly beloved host Vu Bui. Today we’ll talk hardcore mode. Our new hostile mob, the bogged. Our latest item, the wind charge. And deep dive into wolf armor’s biggest update ever. And that’s not even the biggest wolf news of the show.

Oh, no, no, no. We’re announcing a wolf-tacular feature. Let’s see if you’re eagle-eyed enough to spot a hint of what’s coming. See? Quite the challenge, isn’t it? No. Bad dog. Stay. Okay, more on that later. Of course, wolves deserve nothing but the very best protection. Just like me.

That’s why I insist on five iron golems protecting me while I host this show. Let’s say hi to them now… What? Luckily, the wolf armor is far more reliable because we’ve made huge improvements to it thanks to your feedback. Marco, tell us more.

We designed the wolf armor as a way to make it safer to bring wolves along your adventures. However, after receiving feedback that this wasn’t enough, we decided to make it stronger, to the point that the wolf with a wolf armor can now withstand up to four creeper explosions. But that’s not all.

The wolf armor now acts as a shield, absorbing the damage that would otherwise be dealt to the wolf. See those cracks? The wolf armor will get more and more until it breaks. But no worries. You can now repair it by applying armadillo scutes. Wolves aren’t just safer from creepers now.

They’re also finally protected from fashion snobs. Because you can now use dyes to customize your wolf armor, make it any color you like, and have it match your collar. We’re releasing this newly improved wolf armor on February 28th, which is innnn…oh, the past, so you could try it out right now.

Still to come, we’ll talk hardcore mode. But first, let’s talk about the features we’ve released since our last episode. Meet the bogged. We added this new hostile mob on Valentine’s Day. It shoots poisonous arrows at you. How romantic. Imagine if Minecraft skeletons got a lot more toxic.

Great. They fire a little slower than skeletons, which is good, because doctors say that you really should be getting hit with as few poisonous arrows as possible. You can find the bogged in swamps and trial chambers in bedrock beta, Java Snapshot and preview now.

Speaking of recent additions, we also added the wind charge, a new item dropped by the breeze. Is this item a load of hot air? Well, kinda, but in a good way. It’ll give you the breeze’s powers to blast wind to enemies, damaging them and blowing them away,

And it can significantly boost your jumps. We’re very excited and we’ve already seen some inspiration from the Minecraft community. Dropped from Breezes and has some really cool uses, especially for mobility and parkour. Here I am scaling a 50 block tall tower using nothing but five wind charges…in SURVIVAL!

And this player crafted an ingenious way to fire yourself into the sky. We wish them luck crafting a way back down though. Do we have any more? Now something for all you bedrock players out there, you can now customize your worlds more than ever before. Meet Minecraft Add Ons.

Easily add multiple custom blocks, items, mobs and recipes to craft new game experiences both in your existing worlds and new ones. Discover the free and premium collection of add ons today, the first of many at Minecraft Marketplace. But that’s not all the bedrock news. Let’s talk hardcore mode.

The sharp eyed among you might have spotted new UI code references tucked away in recent preview and beta updates, and we want to be upfront with you about this. We’re hoping to bring hardcore mode to bedrock later this year, but still have a lot of work to do

Before this exciting feature is ready for you to test. Hardcore mode is like survival mode, but harder. In hardcore mode you only get one life and death is permanent, which means no respawning. We hope to have hardcore mode for Bedrock edition ready for testing sometime this spring. Hardcore mode will stay in testing

Until we’re confident the experience is smooth for both players and creators. As ever, you’ll be able to send us your feedback on the testing version of hardcore mode and submit any bugs. Wait, that feedback wasn’t for hardcore mode. That’s for our next segment. What begins with a W and ends in -olves?

Hang on, wait, that’s not what a Minecraft wolf looks like. Agnes, what’s going on? We are happy to announce that we are adding new wolf variants to Minecraft. Not one, not two, not three, but four new wolf variants. Four new wolf variants? Actually, let’s make it five. You want another one? Yes, please.

Six it is. Oh wait, there’s one more. Wait, stop, stop. I can’t take anymore. Had enough? Okay, but just one more. So eight new wolf variants are available right now and we really want the players to feel a connection to their pet wolf.

And by adding these new variants and also in combination with the dyeable wolf armor, you really can make your own wolf feel unique, and that will really enhance that connection. Also, we think they are really exciting from more a collecting perspective.

Like you can set the fun goal for yourself to collect all the wolf variants, and since they also are, like, spread out in different biomes, that means that you need to, like, travel in the Minecraft world. And I think that journey in itself is really, really, like, delightful as well.

So we hope that you’re really, really going to enjoy the new wolf variants. I know I will. See you next month.

  1. ok…ok…let me get this straight….they can put resources into developing 8 new wolf variants…..but i cant get get slab/stairs/fence variants for concrete and terracotta…excuse me

  2. I am so excited to see all the wolf variants! I always felt they could do more with them given that wolves are in brown, gray, white, and other coat patterns. And then seeing the other biome dogs like the African-painted dog is cool.

  3. New enchantments to the Wolf Armour could give the feeling an Enchanted Wolf Armour like the Player Armour ( New enchantments for the Wolf Armour, not the old one).

  4. Now that you have wolf variants for different parts of the world, do the same for dirt. Red dirt in savannahs or hot climates, black dirt in jungles or in some plains biomes, and yellow dirt in arid regions. Do that and have grain variations like rice and corn and you could make the game feel much more diverse. The bread from the grain variations could even look like tortillas or bao to really make it feel like a global experience.

  5. wolf armor should act like an elytra, it should have a broken down variant with holes in it at durability 0 like an elytra, so you can still keep it if it breaks
