How to build a house in Terraria… without walls

This is what a house looks like  in Terraria. Pretty normal, right?  Well, this is also a house.  Considerably less normal,   considering this one doesn’t even have walls. But why? I mean, it seems pretty obvious that   houses need walls, so why is this one valid? Well, it’s because houses don’t actually *need*  

Walls – they just can’t have holes. As long as  there’s no empty gap greater than four blocks   wide in your house, a house can be valid.  And, to plug these holes, we can also use   platforms in lieu of walls, since platforms can  act as walls, blocks, and doors simultaneously. 

So, all we need to do is construct a  frame of suitable size out of platforms,   plug the gap with platforms (making sure  to offset one of them), then place down   furniture and the center block. And, there  you go – that’s a wall-less house for ‘ya.
