Lock your chests! | Terraria 1.4.4
We can lock chests now to an extent craft yourself a chest block using some bones and chains at an anvil to lock a chest you left click on it with the chest lock selected this has some massive restrictions however the only chests that can be locked are the green
Blue and pink dungeon chests the shadow chest the gold chest and the biome chests none others including trapped or dead men’s chests can be locked at this time to unlock them you will need a gold key a shadow key or an appropriate biome key I’d love to see an expansion of this in

Hi Khaios, you forgot to mention that the biome chests have more restrictions. You have to kill plantera before you can lock the biome chests. Otherwise the lock will simply not work. Sadly, i found out about this only after starting on a map. Tedit is unfortunately still the only option for something niche like this 😐

I need help, how can i lock a chest if i play in phone?
Wait I have a gold key but it still didn't open my chest that I used it on the gold keys from the dungeon correct
I'll leave where the comment but scratch that just in case anyone else has the same trouble I did I've just found out how to do it just equip the key for what type of colour the chest is the same ones from skeletron dungeon just equip it and then right click it or was it left click either way as long as it's done the centre it seems to open sad thing it breaks the padlock and the key will be used so it's not infinite usage.
I wanted to post this to help with the people have the same confusion I did also useful if I forget I can look back to this anyway hope that helps there are any that managed to completely lock themselves out of their chests and get concerned
My mistake before was trying to use it well it wasn't on one of the numbers but from the inventory

How it's not working in my game
Make a ton of worlds with the opposite evil of your freinds world. Get hardmode in each one and grab all of the biome chests. Block off temple entrance. They will have to either make a whole new world and make it hardmode and farm temple keys or make a new evil biome with seeds from dryad and farm.
Or use a safe bought from the merchant

I always take the biome chests cuz they look cool, qafe to say i probably won't anymore in fear of someone locking my stuff inside
Here's a prank grab a biome key for desert get the desert chest then put a gas trap in it you can do this by putting a used gas trap in shimmer then add the gas trap and your friends best/favorite item in that desert chest so they grind for it then when they open the chest BOOM gassed it's a funny prank trust me bounus points if you put it in a obscure/hidden place then have clues around the map for them to follow 😂
locked dungeon chests can potentially be used as an anti-griefing measure to a limited extent
Alr so basically if you play multiplayer, never use biome chests for storage.

Where do you get biome keys? I found some locked chests in the skeleton dungeon but no keys… I’ve explored several places underground and haven’t found any keys yet.
