† The Celebration Mk2 “red rocket” glitch… when everything is a red rocket

So, yesterday, I released a video about  extraUpdates. For those who haven’t watched it,   extraUpdates are a hidden stat that  controls the update rate of projectiles,   and it has a ton of applications and uses, ranging  from the Shadowbeam Staff to the Magic Quiver.

However, during that video, I also  included a short segment about the   Celebration Mk2 red rocket glitch. For those who don’t know, the red   rocket glitch was a glitch in Terraria 1.4.3,  where the Celebration Mk2’s red rockets would

Do way more damage than they were supposed to. The glitch was caused by a single slip of the   finger in Terraria’s code, where the devs  accidentally gave the Mk2’s red rockets 0   immunity frames instead of the standard 10.  This meant that the red rockets no longer

Inflicted immunity frames on enemies,  and thus their hitrate was unlimited.  Combined with the fact that the red rockets  also infinitely pierced and updated at three   times the normal rate, you got a projectile that  hit anything it touched 180 times per second –

Which is absolutely unprecedented in Terraria. Now, in that last video, I talked about this   glitch in the context of extraUpdates  – a technical lens. After all,   it was a great example. However, in this  footnote/addendum thing, I want to take

A look at this glitch from a different angle. Instead of talking about the code and details,   I’m going to go into something a bit more  visceral. I want to see exactly how borked   we can get these red rockets to be. I’m here  to ask the question: how borked would this

Weapon be if instead of firing all the other  rockets, it just fired the borked red ones?  Now, why am I thinking about  this dumb hypothetical? Well,   it’s because it’s technically possible. Normally, when you hold down the fire button

To fire the CelebrationMk2, it’ll fire cyclically  – that is, it fires in a cycle from red to pink,   like this. This is what you’re probably used to. However, if you just click the Mk2 to fire once,   it’ll fire a rocket of a random color,  unrelated to the total cycle. If you

Then take this and start spam clicking, you’ll  realize that you can fire random rockets while   still attacking at a decent speed. Since the colors here are random,   we can extrapolate that it is possible that all  of these random rockets turn out to be red. Yes,

It is highly unlikely, but for this  footnote hypothetical, that’s enough.  So, let’s test our all-red CelebrationMk2!  Given that this is still extremely unlikely,   I modded the game to make the CelebrationMk2 only  fire red rockets. This should make demonstrating   this implausible situation much easier. We’re going to be testing this on every

Boss in the game, and a few extras too. I’ll  also put up onscreen the number of rockets   fired and the chance of this actually  happening, just to get an extra laugh.  Alright, those are the tests. Did they match  up with what you expected for this glitch?

If you enjoyed this video, consider  subscribing to support the channel,   as only about 1/4 of you are. Related videos  are on the left and right. Either way though,   thank you for watching, and good  day and good bye. See you next week!

† The Celebration Mk2 “red rocket” glitch, when everything is a red rocket

  1. Note 1: Red rockets only infinitely pierce once they are a certain distance from you
Note 2: In the boss section, most of those bosses would've died way faster if you clicked faster than I did (I tried to minimize rockets, not time, on the weaker bosses)
Note 3: The Mk2 fires 10 times per second

  2. When did the profile picture change? I only just noticed it this video but now I’m not sure if that’s just me not being observant…

  3. this just makes us envision a Ranger Zenith weapon that just incurs exactly this but as a deliberate function of the projectiles. just, y'know, hopefully a LITTLE more balanced damage wise… ;P

  4. I won't lie – if they didn't remove this glitch and left it, Celebration MK2 would've still been balanced.
Zenith is shredding the enemies. Same with the last prism.
Celebration MK2 feels a bit less op than the other two to me.

  5. If Re-Logic doesn't add Zenith equivalents for the other classes in 1.4.5, I'd be moderately okay if this bug was brought back as a feature so there'd be at least some reason to play anything other than melee in the endgame.

  6. Minor spelling mistakes detected:
    1. It's 40.4M for Eater of Worlds
    2. It's 9.14E + 92 instead of .17 for Moon Lord
    3. I'm too lazy to finish the entire vid, good luck.

  7. This would've been insanely faster with vortex stealth (pretty manuvable with starboard). It was so funny when I did providence on 1.4.3, the only thing that held me back was the guardian's defense boost and some bullet hells, or else it would've been way below 2 minutes.
