I Made the Most Insane Desert Boss in Terraria

So as I’ve mentioned in a previous video all the stuff I’ve been making in the way of Terraria modding is all for a large content mod that I plan to publish once I finished all the prehard mode content I did recently finish making Dynamic reworks for all the unmodded

Bosses in prehard mode but I’m not quite done yet before the mod goes public I still need to make a few more unique bosses in their assorted loot specifically a boss for the sky bomb the desert bomb the cavern spot and maybe the Shimmer this is obviously going to

Take a while but I’m proud to announce that I’ve made a fully functional boss for the underground desert biome I’ll be explaining how this boss Works in full detail and then showing an unedited recording of the fight if you’re a more visual learner then I encourage you to

Skip forward the boss fight centers around this little wisp called the desert Phantom he’s got a few tricks of his own but the main G ick is his ability to possess these statues that can be found lying around the underground desert when this happens you’ll need to destroy the statue he’s

Possessing before you’ll be able to do damage to him again I’ll start by explaining how the statues work over the course of the fight the Phantom will possess three different statues called Jackal face sunf face and block face each statue has its own unique abilities and can only appear once the desert

Phantom will possess the first statue as soon as the fight Begins the second when it gets to 66% health and the last when it’s reduced to 33% Health which order the statues come in is entirely random now let’s get to the actual abilities Jackal face will Attack by slamming his

Fist down and then moving them towards the player while slamming them against the ground while on the ground both fists will leave a trail of flames that rise into the air after a short delay sunface will chase the player while periodically spawning in a large group

Of flames these Flames will home in on the player for a short time and then explode and last but not least blockface will repeatedly try to stop the player creating an explosion of flames whenever he lands in addition to that he’ll also sometimes Bounce Around The Room

Creating a small burst of flames with each bounce when you destroy one of these statues the desert f pH will fight you himself until you’ve done enough damage in which case he’ll either be dead or possessing another statue the Phantom will attack primarily by flying around and charging at the player

However whenever you destroy a statue he’ll unlock a new ability based off of the statue you just killed when you’ve killed jeral face he’ll sometimes fly under the player leaving behind a trail of flames that will rise into the air when you’ve killed sunface you’ll be able to charge leaving behind the trail

Of homing flames and when you’ve killed blockface he’ll sometimes pause for a moment and shoot out a small burst of flames needless to say in the last stretch of the fight the Phantom will have access to all three abilities regardless of the order of the statues the desert Phantom can be summoned using

A cursed Relic which can be crafted as shown on screen or by destroying a sarcophagus which can be found in the underground desert please note that the sarcophagus will stop spawning once you killed the desert Phantom at least once if at any point during the fight you’re

Not in the underground desert biome the boss will immediately despawn oh and also the extra attacks that the desert Phantom can do are exper mode exclusive with that out of the way as promised earlier I’ll be playing an unedited recording of the fight enjoy oh help d no no I no help

Help help help and that’s that I would just like to say that spriting and coding this boss was a whole lot of work so if you could like And subscribe I would deeply appreciate it thank you goodbye

Subscribe for more amazing content.

After doing un-modded boss reworks for so long it wasn’t easy getting back into making original bosses, especially with how ambitious my plans are, but I think I’ve gone and made the best desert boss in modded Terraria. You be the judge, but after all that work I think I deserve at least second place.

  1. I was expecting this to be mid but for once I was surprised to see a good desert boss!

All it needs is a proper sprite and for the flames to have a different appearance per phase so they are distinguishable.

Only complaint is that this is more of a hard mode boss with that moveset and arena requirement.

  2. cool but i think you should keep in mind the kinds of arenas people will or won't build because nobody's going to make a giant arena in the underground desert for one boss

    also the description: uhhhhhhh
it's sort of hard competing in the "best desert boss" space with bosses like scarabus (spirit) and grand thunderbird (thorium) that are extremely well designed

  3. My only gameplay gripe is that the Phantom’s version of the Sun Face attack should chase you for longer, other than that the gameplay is fine.

As for the design, the stone faces are very bare bones and should be designed to look better. The phantom itself has a cool face but it should be more than just a sphere (or at least add more cool particle effects).

  4. This is by far the best desert boss I’ve seen, BUT I have one complaint
I Feel Like Four statues might be better than just three
Perhaps a “circle” statue that can spin and send the flames out randomly

All these bosses are Great and I look forward to see what comes next

  5. What do you use to make your mod, do you use tmodloader? What do you use to make sprites?

I've always wanted to make a terraria mod but I'm on an xbox so I've been considering getting terraria and tmodloader on my computer. I even already have a couple sprites on my computer for if I ever make my mod.

  6. The phantom seems way too fast for a pre- hardmode boss. You cannot hit the phantom normally with anything besides guns right now. I would suggest slowing it down or adding a rest period of 3 seconds after he has dashed a couple of times.

  7. I really like the concept of this boss, but i feel like it would fit better in a temple- like structure where the masks have a set position on the background walls in the structure. It could also have a summoning altar where the phantom emerges when you take an orb from the altar. This orb could be an accessory that makes your weapons have homing, so you can use it to keep up with the speed of these bosses. The fighting area in the temple should be big enough to the point that you do not need to make your own arena by blowing up the temple.

  8. This is really neat, I have no doubt that what you've been working on is on track to be really good with further development and polish. Although some aspects of the boss fights you've made make me think they may be more annoying than anything else I might be wrong and if I'm not some small tweaks could make for some top tier boss fights.
