A strange Terraria weapon nobody uses…

Some of terraria’s weapons have always been a little hard to place as we have so many damn options to choose from it’s very easy for an otherwise cool and unique weapon to fall into the Realms of irrelevancy and so today I thought we would take a look at a weapon which I

Think while far from terrible is a little insignificant compared to the other weapons obtained at the same point of course I’m talking about the toxic flask now funny enough I have already looked at this weapon briefly in the past however I think to truly understand where this weapon stands we need to

Compare it to the other available Alternatives because you might be a little shocked before we jump into it though if you enjoy these weapon review videos don’t forget to drop a like And subscribe as it really helps out the channel okay then let’s first see how you can get one interestingly despite

The toxic flask being a solar eclipse drop like a few other weapons it’s actually locked behind postplant Terra meaning it shouldn’t be really that difficult to obtain with the main barrier getting a solar eclipse to spawn being completely bypassed by the beauty of the solar tablet you see by heading

To your lizard temple after to defeating planta you can very simply just Farm enemies for an infinite amount of solar tablet fragments which then can be crafted into a full tablet at an anvil for eight a piece also if this is your first time in a temple which it probably

Will be you’ll have a one in five chance of finding a whole tablet in a lizard chest anyway so assuming you do go this route a solar eclipse is basically guaranteed at this point in progression allowing you not to have to rely on that measly one in 20 chance of one occuring

Naturally anyway once one is up and running we very simply need to focus on killing one enemy in particular doct and fly which are luckily for us unlike the nail head or eyesa is really quite a common spawn and with the toxic flask in question only having a 4.94% drop rate

You should be able to find yourself with one nice and quickly might just running and gunning the whole event however if you are finding this diff difficult don’t forget that you can always use a weapon like the death CLE to completely cheese the entire event allowing to kill

Hundreds of Dr man flies underground just look out for those moons though however you battle your Eclipse don’t be surprised to be leaving it with multiple toxic flasks as they really aren’t that elusive right then let’s see what it can do shall we the toxic flask in many ways

Presents itself as more of a support type weapon however I really don’t think this is the case as when thrown the damaging toxic cloud release will only last about 1 and 1/2 seconds meaning you really need to continuously fire this thing to do any real damage and speaking

Of damage from a DPS perspective it does unfortunately already match The Inferno Fork when left to linger and loses to it under continuous fire so this is already where some of the pitfalls of this weapon start to show is despite it having less range fire rat and projectile sustain compared to this

Weapon it also has lesser base damage which just seems a little strange to me also when bringing out something completely different like the shadow beam staff its single Target DPS is already around the same ball pack as the toxic flask and this is a weapon with infinite range and piercing so I mean

Let’s really hope the flask can bring it back against groups and well while it’s definitely an increase most of the potential is loss with the limited sustain of those gas clouds with basically a Max of two or three being on screen at the same time so if you were

To compare this to its closest competitor once more it’s just a wipe out for The Inferno Fork being capable of upwards of 6,000 DPS also if we bring back out the shadow beam staff assuming your enemies are all in a line once again we can deal some crazy high damage

Which more than makes up for its below average single Target performance so I guess now it’s only fair we see if the toxic flask is any better against the real thing and to be fair to it in a real scenario the free weapons are a lot closer matched with the flask and

Inferno basically taking out this group of mimics at the same speed the only time you really get to notice that DPS difference is a against tankier groups you see against these biomimics at least while the toxic flask did take them down relatively fast The Inferno Forks higher

Base damage did make all the difference and he’s really just better at this point and unfortunately this comparison doesn’t stop here as again scolum while the toxic flask is far from being a bad weapon having the perfect functionality for such a static boss The Inferno Fork did manage to take him down considerably

Faster thanks to probably the combination of damage sustain and ease of use so yeah things are looking pretty rough but you know going back to what I did say earlier it’s not still actually a bad weapon and due to the nature of its functionality we’ll get you a

Cultist kill well a very clunky one still a kill but you know we’re not treating this in a vacuum and unfortunately the reality is that The Inferno Fork does exist and will just F you far better against everything shown today despite this though hear me out

Here as one of the very first things I mentioned about the flask was it easy and almost guaranteed obtainability which is something which can’t be said for The Inferno thought so maybe if you’re just looking for a solid Crown control weapon to get you through some

Invasions or just one of the many quick ways to defeat Golem you could still go for it but just be aware that for another 20 or 30 minutes of grinding you can instead have a version that is better in every way so there we have it folks the toxic flask and cool sounding

Weapon in theory that it’s just let down by its balancing I’m sure at some point we’ll see this thing get a little buff but in it’s current state I can see why it gets so easily missed this has been zarz and I’ll see you in the next one

A strange Terraria weapon nobody uses… The Toxic Flask. Whist looking through some Terraria weapons the other day, I bumped into the oddity that is the Toxic Flask. A throwable mage weapon that functions basically like a slightly worse Inferno Fork. So, here’s a good ol’ look at it! And if I’m honest, I can’t really think of much of a use for this thing, however, maybe you’ll love it! Enjoy!

  1. Got it once in a journey playthrough (I was melee) but still tested it. It’s actually pretty good, but the high mana cost made me not use it as I could only fire it once after using a star crystal then needing to fully reload mana (and the fact i was melee)

  2. If this weapon got a unique buff in 1.4.5, i want to see it have the ability to apply debuffs based on what debuff flask you have active. It would be super fun to coat an entire crowd in toxic piss gas or in poisoned confetti.

Also it just makes sense for a mad scientist throwing potions like snowballs in a snowball fight to be mixing their chemicals

  3. I absolutely loved using this weapon for so many things. When used with the spectre armor, and specifically the mask, the damage output can be insane, it singlehandedly helped me up to wave 15 of the pumpkin moon!

  4. in 1.4.3 the toxic flask was at least unique from other post-plantera drops, being able to attack through blocks. This weapon overhaul feels more like a downgrade.

  5. Random spawning events are really disappointing because by the time you can force their spawn they fall behind. This weapon is very fun but post golem there are better options.
