Just a couple of changes that I think are most pressing for the 1.6 update!

  1. I would look at more pressing things to change. For example how retaining soil works. Chance it will retain is bs as your stuck wasting your time checking on your crops and will have random patches.
Better would be to have them retain for X days. Like basic being 2 days without watering, quality being 6 days and keep deluxe as perm.
Also what is the point of onion mastery, oh year 2 (If lucky/focused) they now are 5x the profit but at best they sell for 80g each… I'd rather it just double the profit and recovery.
Or better yet have it as a poor mans seasoning for non drink / desert foods and let you make silver quality foods with it.

  2. Why are people saying that tea sapling shouldn't be nerfed. The materials are not hard to gather and tea leaves sell for basically nothing (50g). Nerf sapling to 400g, tea leaves to 80g and tea for 200 g.

By the time you unlock kegs and have befriended Caroline, it would likely have become summer, when you can turn melons into jam and wine. Tea sapling being sold raw defeats its purpose. Not to mention tea sapling takes 20 days to grow and can only be harvested at the last week.

If you are having a hard time gathering money in Spring and tea sapling is the only way out, then this just means that tea saplings are overpowered and other money makers are being shadowed.

  3. Please don't nerf the tea sapling, but maybe buff the green tea sell price to 300.
Also allow the green tea max energy buff and coffee speed buff to stack up and not cancel out each other.

The other ideas are great like the hopper to keep producing by leaving all resources on the ground for pick-up.

  4. Don’t think Tea sapling were ever intended to be this strong of a money maker, while I’m against nerfing things in a mostly single player non competitive game I gotta agree with Sal. It would be nice to see them not be as strong but still viable.. you’ll still be rich pretty quick even at 300g per sapling because they are so easy to craft, alternatively make tea sell for a lot more to counter act the nerf of the sapling

  5. Make Joja worth it. To do so, you need three things:

    1. A cutscene showing the player where Joja actually is, since it’s so out of the way

    2. Joja sells all seeds all the time. The prices are 10-15% cheaper than Pierre’s on out-of-season crops, 20% on in-season

    3. Joja route gives an extra star drop

  6. Tea saplings should absolutely have their sell price decreased. They’re so easy to craft they shouldn’t be worth so much.

Should make tea sell for a little more so the intended use is there, for cheap you can throw together a tea farm inside and make profit that way.

  7. The fact that none of the fish give clay from fish ponds annoys me. We need better ways to grab clay, im constantly going to the island dig site for clay nodes to craft deluxe retaining soil

  8. Absolutely agree with nerfing tea saplings. You don’t need to hypermax your farm on year one, and both tea saplings and clay farming take away from other areas of the game such as fishing and mining.

  9. i honestly dont agree with the hoppers thing. i think it would be great but also defeats what i think is a key point of the game. even if things like auto petters get rid of some tedious tasks, nothing is fully automated. then its just a factory

  10. I actually agree on the tea sapling issue. The only con is that fiber isn't as easy to get in bulk even early on (in my experience) so that put a natural bottleneck on crafting them, keeping them from being even more OP.

But honestly I think actual tea either needs a boost in price, a more parctical use or should stack with at least 1 other drink.

But maybe instead of nerfing tea saplings, buff foragables across the main season to match the value of winter forage.

Some other changes I'd like would be to change how retaining soil works from a chance to a set number of days. And make the worm bin function as an actual worm compost bin. Yes it double dips with the bonemeal but you can circumvent this by either 1) splitting what machine gives you which, or 2) make it so dead crops and rotten plants are items we can put in worm bins to also produce compost/worms/fertilizer.

  11. I need that hopper change so bad. The Automate mod is a life changer and this would allow non modders and console players to experience some of the benefits of automate even if it is locked behind endgame content.

  12. I think changing tea saplings depends on whether you think that them selling for that high is an oversight or by design. If it's an oversight then it should be changed, but it its intended price, but the green tea is incorrect, then change the green tea itself, and not the tea saplings

  13. I don’t actually understand why people call for items like tea saplings to be nerfed in a (largely) single player game. If you think they’re OP, don’t sell them! It’s not like they’re a base crop in the game, they’re a niche thing that a small number of players use.

I don’t clay farm or sell tree saplings in SDV because I like the fishing and I think that’s a good enough early money maker for my style of play. If other people hate making money that way and just want to sell tea saplings, it doesn’t affect me or my play style in the slightest.

Even for speedruns / challenge runs, the community can decide if techs like selling saplings or clay farming are too broken and ban them themselves imo.

  14. I dont think tea saplings should be nerfed , if someone wanted to use it as a mid or late game player they would instantly regret it cuz it uses a lot of their valuable wood and fiber which both takes a long time to get a large amount of them so its a bad investment comparing it to crops or pigs
But its a great starting boost for experienced players if they wanted to play on a new file , so its balanced

  15. I think Green tea should be a universal love, and give a +2 to luck, it allows it to compete with coffee in Skull caverns AND it becomes useful as a gift for those who you have no gifts for birthdays early in the season.
