One thing that would massively improve this is if they spent any time whatsoever optimising those meshes. They could take it from what looks like millions to maybe a couple thousand and it would be fine on java.
Leaving aside the impressive technical feat to achieve this, I find it rather lame. A game where the world is made of cubes isn't meant to be realistic. Imo this is the wrong direction, the game should evolve to make its world more beautiful and detailed, but still retaining its blocky spirit.

I feel like photogrammetry kind of ruins the point. The joy and point of all these graphics mods are that, no matter how much you improve and tinker and enhance, it is still at its core, minecraft. Shaders, texture packs and all that such supports the platform which it was built on. With access to the Minecraft source code/modding apis, you can really just override the whole game and run unreal engine when you load a world, would that still be minecraft? If you are stripping everything that minecraft is and just using traditional basic rendering techniques, at that point why not just use something else? The physics mods and stuff are dope tho
