Very sorry that this vid took longer than expected, I hope this was worth the wait!

I think the issue is that they dropped the ball incredibly hard with Caves and Cliffs, so hard in fact that it broke a hole in the floor and is currently on its way to the core of the Earth. They promised a new ore, a revamp of certain old ores, new cave biomes, new world and cave generation, the Deep Dark, archaeology, etc. 1.17 releases and they hardly give a quarter of what was promised. It took 4 updates, up to 1.20, to add everything they promised. That left an extremely bad taste in most people's mouths and really harmed Mojang's image with the community, seeing how hugely they over-promised and how terribly they under-delivered. COVID really screwed with the team and they're still struggling to recover. Had they managed to deliver on everything that was promised and 1.17 had all the features added from 1.17 to 1.20, it's still very possible they would've screwed up with 1.18 since they would've had to make an update better than what ended up being 4 updates, but it likely wouldn't have been as hard.

I'll be SO angry if they actually add the villager rebalancing. Great way to make the world mad at them. Also, lets hope the armadillo is actually USEFUL. Im still sore over polar bears and foxes.

What sucks is they’re about to ruin this update at well all because they changed the tick delays on the crafter and copper bulb which is gonna make both of them mostly copper bulb go from being used in pretty much every redstone build to not being used at all
I guess this is a hot take, but the villager rebalancing is a good thing IMO.
Like, they’re genuinely busted already and make the game a cakewalk when you set up a proper farm. And with the past several updates it’s very clear that Mojang wants the player to explore the world instead of sticking to what they already have. I think it’s a very good balance that nerfs Villagers enough to where they are still very very very useful but not as mindlessly broken as they currently are.
