The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20.2!
In this tutorial, we browse a complete collection of Armor Trim patterns, then learn how to customise banners, apply a design to a shield, and use banners as map markers.

I share my opinions on every Armor Trim design, including the rare Silence Armor Trim, discuss which armor trims you need to get the Smithing With Style advancement, and why that’s a good reason to go looking for armor trim smithing templates.

We then move on to look at banner design using the Loom block, exploring how to add designs and layer them to create world flags in Minecraft, or design your own custom banner to represent you! We look at adding these to shields, and why the design can sometimes look different when applied to a shield.

We also explore how banners can be used as map markers in Minecraft Java Edition, and finally I recommend a couple of online tools to help you design banners and armor trims without spending expensive resources on a trial-and-error process in game.

  1. I reallly like making a huge map of my area and those markers are awesome. I need to do that! Thanks loads. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Ya know I don't know where anyone lives. If you live here in US – have a great Thanksgiving – if not – have a wonderful day anyways on Thursday! 🙂 See you later Pixl!!!

  2. On the topic of armor and banner aesthetics I would love to learn how to desighn a minecraft skin for java edition bedrock is so fun with all. the great items you can buy but java obviously you have to make your own skins or maybe download a skin someone has made everytime I try it's terrible any tips tricks or resources would be great .

  3. This was a hell of an episode, very fun!

This may be getting too close to D&D, but I feel trims were a missed opportunity to reset and establish more complex and unique purpose to armor.

I'd love if trims gave some unique stat boost (e.g. pillager trim gives trading discount, ward gives warden damage reduction, Rib increases chance of wither skull drop, etc). Maybe make it required to have a full set or something.

It also could have been used to give lessor armor purpose again. Logically, only leather armor should be able to have swift sneak, since a full suite of armor is almost comically loud. Pair that with a full Silence trim could make you super stealthy.

  4. I pray that we see an endermen farm soon dude, love the bingo streams but I would not mind not seeing the slow mending process with the current skeleton farm. Hate to backseat but hate the slowness of the skeletonfarm alot more

  5. Adjusting for the number of the loot chests in each structure, the four rarest armor trims are: 4th-Vex, 3rd-Wild, 2nd-Dune, & 1st-Sentry, as there is only one chest in a Pillager Outpost.

  6. Thanks for showing the backs of the trimmed armor. I haven't seen any other video about them that does that. 👍
I was hoping that when they added the ability to put banner patterns on shields in Bedrock edition that they would fix the "squished" pattern problem and just trim off the outer pixel border in both versions, but instead they chose to propagate the problem onto Bedrock. 🙁 There are so many cool patterns that could be put on shields if they'd fix that!

  7. I remember Dinnerbone once mentioning that there isn't necessarily a "correct" pronunciation for Mojang, and that we could pronounce it "Moswigglybanana" if we wanted to.

  8. This is why I get hooked over armor trims. They are so cool that you can just add a color and a template to them. Now will say mostly the chest plates have a lot of design than the others just because it shows more. I want to get all the ones I can before fighting the dragon usually but sometimes that can take awhile so I don’t know how to manage that. Also I didn’t not their was a website for pre look at armor trims on certain armor definitely gonna use that
Lastly, my top 4 armor trims is Rib, Silence, Ward/Eye, and Snout, but not sure about which equipment I’d put it on. I don’t have a theme really for my character besides like.. dragon type things or mythological

  9. I've been playing Minecraft since 2011, I don't watch these videos as an absolute beginner, and yet I'm still learning new things thanks to your tips! This is the first time I've learned about removing banner layers with the cauldron – super handy!

  10. Perhaps a future video idea could be "A Brief Look At Resource Packs" so that you can show off the concept of Full-Size/HD Shield Banner Patterns as an example of a Resource Pack?

  11. 20:35 Polish banner! (I'm polish lol)
Thank you for another amazing episode Pixl, my day is significantly better now, i love the and educative format of your videos.
Sending good vibes from Scotland 💙🤍💙
