Recently, the official minecraft server list released. There was quite a lot of drama as many of the servers on the list were pay-to-win, so we got in contact with the websites creators and had a lengthy 2 hour conversation…

  1. an in-game server list that doesnt discriminate and just gives a random list of servers, so that we can find and remove truly despicable servers, while promoting even things that while you may not like, are still good for a GAMING community, rather than specifically just for families

  2. Evil Microsoft would still put these servers on the list but not because they technically follow the eula but because that way its easier for them to shut each of these down because they already compiled a convenient list

  3. All Microsoft needs to do is pay Google to make the official server list show up higher on search results. Google likely already controls what goes on there anyway and can probably remove what they don’t like, even if it doesn’t break any rules. But that’s just a guess.

  4. So a slot machine where pictures are spinning around, creating artificial excitement for landing that Jackpot is not allowed but it is allowed when you have pictures spinning around creating artificial excitement for landing that Jackpot. Got it.

  5. Loot boxes are still not at all that bad. Most servers allow you to obtain them by playing and paying is just a quicker way to get them.. I honestly don't really understand the people who are terribly against them.. you don't HAVE to purchase a lootbox ..?

  6. I just hope they end up settling on the fact that it's not the gambling method that's bad, but instead the fact that young people with poor impulse control and access to their parents' credit cards can end up sinking money into these gambling-adjacent lootbox systems and develop an addiction to the thrill at an early age, as long as the server owners include a hard limit on how much you can play the gambling features and don't monetize said gambling features whatsoever, it should be at least manageable

  7. You should have pushed back about their definition of gambling.
Kinda irresponsible for you not to, given your platform.

Their definition is blatantly wrong and should be contended.

  8. Oh, and what they can't disclose (and I heard that laugh)…. data harvesting from the experimental bedrock versions have found the portal that will link to them. It's already being implemented, it's on the way.

  9. Good ol' terms of service looking out for the consoomer.
"Simulated gambling involving fake money and depicting casino activity is dangerous and unethical,

real gambling involving real money and affecting people's bank accounts is harmless and morally ok"

As a species, we are deluding ourselves to worship capitalism at its worst

  10. 11:26 so you think children should be exposed to such strong language at a young age? To me it’s a no brainer here, if you’re trying to appeal to a family audience (which would be the goal if you’re trying to get onto this server list) then stuff like that has to go, or at the very least be censored. I agree with your other points but the language one makes me think you could care less if children are exposed to this which I don’t think they should be. You may see it as inoffensive but to many families that may play that server and have their child come across that I don’t think they’d have that sentiment. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing that as much if I went on a server like that, but I certainly would mind a child seeing something like that.

  11. i wonder why they let hypixel have slot machines in the cruise ship map in murder mystery? isn't that a clear recreation of real life gambling

  12. are u stupid gambling is with money not items so if it was for u in the crates to get or lose money it will be considered gambling but it is only for loot u know u wont gain anything real so its not a gamble

  13. I see Mojang have fallen for EA's propaganda, loot boxes are just kinder surprise eggs! Totally harmess guys!!!

Also that's so petty to get complaints when your server was being reviewed about the "player made Casino" (How is that even a casino?) and one swear word, as if kids don't already know what that word is, with how much media loves to tease swearing in kids media all the time. Kids aren't dumb, they can read between the lines.

  14. So we can all agree that the only current problem is the guidelines. The server website is official and professional, it's just the way you get accepted into them.
