When the NPCs would violently shake like that I always thought that they we're getting triggered about you running into them lol.
You missed the bit where they zoom off to catch up with their programmed schedule
I always thought that when you went through an NPC you were awkwardly sidestepping around them, but this seems more interesting.
To be fair, they do the same thing when you stand in their way. The first time it happened to me I was just fishing at the top bridge in town by the joja mart and a whole brigade of townies decided to angrily phase through me. I was a bit disturbed by it at the time too. It wasn’t like I was fishing in a strange place 😅
I JUST had it where I was stuck between Abigail and Caroline as I was trying to leave the side room, so i couldn't get out either way. So, it came to this.

Interestingly, I did the opposite of this yesterday. I exited the Stardrop Saloon and Pam was already at the door trying to enter, so I went back inside, waited for her to enter, and then left again.

I've never done this with a person but it happens ALL THE TIME with my cat. The cat sometimes blocks my way to his OWN WATER BOWL so I have to quantum-tunnel through and we end up with Schrodinger's cat.
