  1. @12:24 Photos are developed in what's called a "dark room". I won't pretend I know EVERYTHING about why or how light affects photo development, but turning the lights off wouldn't affect the photos negatively (pun-somewhat intended); the red light is used as a way of providing the most minimal amount of light possible to be able to see what you are doing and not be bright enough to ruin the photos, but if humans had night vision and could see exquisitely well in zero light, then dark rooms would probably be in completely pitch black.

  2. Red light is used in "dark rooms" cause it have lowest energy, it doesn't destroy photos, and people actually want to see what they're doing.
    I'd worry more about… hmmm… "substances" contaminating photo baths… 😀
