Fishing is more useful than i expected I started playing terraria last week and the loot i got from blood moon Fishing was so much. I didn't need it but still nice to know
You can also fish in lava if you have hell critters. Although use the snails since they give the highest fishing power and can get you Ibby crates which cna get your the lava proof fishing hook.
For fishing in lava, you can also use snails, butterflies and fireflies from the underworld as bait if you don't have the rods or equipment. Just make sure you use the golden bug net or the lavaproof bug net to catch them.

They most likely patches that journey mode trick
I just used those lava snails as bait until I got the lava proof fishing hook

Someone should do a fishermen run where you can only use loot you fish
If you want to fish in lava, get a fire proof bugnet by crafting and catch a few fire snails or butterflies and use them as bait

You can actually fish in lava without the hot line fishing rod as long as you have bait from hell
Or you can just use critters found in the under world as bait to fish in lava
The last one if you have neither use lava bait, this will be the critters you find in hell such as lava flies, butterflies and snails
+ the size or your “fishing lake” matters, it it’s too small your fishing power will be reduced
