To me mushrooms good early game, but late game fruits are better for certain gifts that can be iridium quality, plus I always want mushroom trees, so if I need some mushrooms Iโll just tap them

I wouldn't say fruit trees make the cave obsolete if anything I'd say it's the other way around. You have to pay over 1k g to even get a sapling which takes a whole season to grow as well and you can get iridium quality fruit from cave if you have proper foraging profession which you don't get that from the trees. Plus trees can only hold 3 fruit max at a time, you could get more than that if you wait a bit longer as I usually see 1-2 fruit of the same type sometimes pretty useful considering you don't have to pay for the cave
Fruit bat cave makes for a great additional room and you can decorate it pretty much how you want. I always pick it coz the mushrooms get in the way ๐

Mushroom cave is my go to, always useful, you can collect the shrooms and store them for life elixr making when you're heading to mines, there are some niche use cases and I always like planting a fruit tree orchard anyway.
Fruit bat cave is good for early game. By the time you really need Life Elixirs in later game, you can probably get to the mushroom cave on Ginger Island, so you can get the best from both worlds and still get Foraging benefits from both.
im on a new play through & chose fruit for the first time and im so glad i did bc i was able to complete the community center so much faster than usual
I know mushrooms are guarenteed, but I can slap a tapper on a mushroom tree.
Iโve tried mushrooms once or twice bc so many people seem to say itโs better than the fruit bat cave but Iโve never liked it. I never make life elixirs. My farmer lives off of blocks of gold quality cheese. I donโt check the cave everyday so whenever I actually do go in there I just get six common mushrooms and it feels like a waste of time. Fruit bat cave will always be the better choice for me. Itโs really helpful for community center bundles and the fruit makes for great gifts!
Wouldn't it be good if:
– after some time, demetrius could come and ask if you wanted to change the cave time (just one time in the run)
– you could make it hybrid, but after something (event, purchase), but it would be nerfed a little

With the fruit cave, 9 times out of ten you just end up with grapes or a salmonberry. Honestly 6 normal quality mushrooms thst are guaranteed everyday with a pretty decent chance for purple mushrooms to spawn is the obvious better choice than random chance fruit.
iโve literally never picked the bat cave, only mushrooms cause i dont wanna go through the stress of trying to finda a purple mushroom for the cc
also its nice to decorate without stopping the mushroom from spawning + tree saplings for fences or income

in the end, i never use any of them either way.
You don't need to look at the fruits every 6 days….
